Lisbon Half Marathon

Get yourself fit for the Lisbon Half Marathon, the largest in the world. The race starts in Almada on the south side of the 25 de Abril bridge. The route crosses the bridge, follows the river Tagus eastwards then turns around and ends in Belém at the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos - the beautiful cathedral built by King Manuel I in the 16th century.
Gilbenkian Orchestra

Portugal's premier Gulbenkian Orchestra performs its annual season of concerts in the large auditorium at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation on Thursdays, Fridays and occasional Saturdays. Led by music director Lawrence Foster and various visiting conductors, and featuring numerous renowned soloists, the orchestra performs a wide-ranging selection of works.

Festas de Lisboa

During Festas de Lisboa (celebrating various saints' days),
Lisbon is draped in colourful paper streamers. The party peaks on the eve of St Anthony's Day with the grand Avenida da Liberdade parade and parties in the Alfama district, everywhere there is music & dancing. The Alfama & Mouraria are the most popular districts for evening parties, sardines are grilled outside the houses & the narrow streets fill with people in a party mood.
Rock in Rio

It might be called Rock in Rio, but it's Lisbon that's treated to major names in blues and soul, indie and rock. International bands play on three stages in the specially constructed Rock City in Bela Vista Park. www.rockinrio-lisboa.sapo.pt
